Dr Chris Williams

Dr Williams studied medicine at the University of Glasgow and have spent the last 10 years working as a doctor in London and, since 2019, in Northern Ireland, where he is now a GP Partner in Redwood Surgery.
Dr Patrina Bell

Dr Bell has over 26 years as a GP, with a keen focus on lifestyle medicine. She graduated from Queens University Belfast and is a partner at Redwood Surgery in Bangor, County Down.

With our simple to use online booking service, you can book an appointment at a time that suits. We offer evening and weekend appointments to suit your lifestyle.

Come and see us
At Your Welcome Appointment we'll undertake an initial assessment and examination. We'll provide you with your first pen and show you how to use it. We'll also administer the first injection for you should you prefer.

Follow up
Typically, we would aim to follow up 4 weeks after your first injection. The frequency and type of review thereafter will be tailored to your needs, lifestyle and budget.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do weight loss injections work?
Mounjaro® and Wegovy® act like two of the body's natural hormones. These hormones help us to feel full after eating. By copying these hormones, Mounjaro produces a feeling of fullness and regulates appetite.
How long does treatment take to work?
Weight loss injections typically start to work within days and weight changes are typically seen within weeks of starting treatment.
How much weight could I lose?
Research has shown that you can lose up to 22.5% of your starting weight after 18 months of treatment with Mounjaro®. For example, an individual weighing 130kg before starting treatment could lose up to 29kg.
With Wegovy®, studies have demonstrated up to 17% weight loss at 68 weeks.
How do I take Mounjaro®/Wegovy®?
Both are taken as a once weekly injection from an easy-to-use pen. Each pen contains four doses and should last one month. It is injected subcutaneously (into the skin) using needles that we have carefully selected to be as comfortable as possible. We can also offer anaesthetic cream if needed.
Who can take Mounjaro®/Wegovy®?
Mounjaro® and Wegovy® are only available on prescription to those who fulfil the following criteria:
- BMI of 30 or more
- BMI of 27 - 30 and who have a weight related condition. We assess eligbility on an individual basis.
What if I have diabetes?
If you have type 2 diabetes, you can check your eligibility using our online form.
Unfortunately Mounjaro® and Wegovy® cannot be given to people with type 1 diabetes.
What if I'm pregnant?
Mounjaro® cannot be given in pregnancy or if you're planning to become pregnant.
You should stop Mounjaro® and Wegovy® at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy and use effective contraception during Mounjaro treatment.
Mounjaro® and Wegovy® can also impact the absorption of some contraceptives, Your contraceptive medication may need to be changed. We can discuss this in clinic if required.
What if I'm breastfeeding?
We do not know if Mounjaro® or Wegovy® pass to breastfed infants via the milk. We therefore do not recommend either of these treatments if you are breastfeeding.
Will my usual medications be affected by my treatment?
Injectable weight loss medications like Mounjaro® and Wegovy® can affect the absorption of some medications, making them less effective. This can be explored in detail at your welcome appointment.
Which treatment is best for me?
Both injectable treatments work in a similar fashion. Mounjaro® produces a slightly greater weight loss, however and carries a higher cost, whereas Wegovy® produces slightly less weight loss, however is more cost effective. We can explore the options at your welcome appointment.
